Mission Statement Ideas

Webmaster's October 20 Comments

The Ad Hoc Committee's work has been exciting, stressful, rewarding and time-consuming.  Our focus has so far been on looking at the big picture - what we are, who we are and where we are going.  We are therefore focusing on defining what our values are, what our Mission and Visions are and (hopefully) developing better ways to resolve conflicts, run meetings and work together as a community.

My intent with this website has been to provide a resource for the Committee.   The vision was of an area where all our documents can be accessed and  where we could exchange ideas and comments.  The site has expanded beyond that to a cyberspace where others interested in the process are learning about our work and accomplishments.  It is my hope that this site can eventually be used by many people as a resource and model for conflict resolution.

Currently we are examining what our members value in our community.  My understanding is that we will not only communicate these values to others but also use them as a basis for developing our Mission and Vision Statements.  Those statements and values will then (hopefully) be used as guideposts and catalysts for the community.  By understanding who and what we are, we can be clearer about what our expectations and responsibilities are in the community.
